WHAT IS HEARING UNHEARD VOICES ALL ABOUT?

The Hearing Unheard Voices (HUV) project gives young people the skills and opportunities to speak up to shape the services that they access, through media and campaigning activities.
HUV is open to groups of young people aged 11-18, with a particular focus on those who are rarely heard such as homeless/ carers/refugees/ LGBT/ BME/ disabled parents and those who do not get on well with school or training.
HUV gives young people the opportunity to have their say, through voicing their concerns, talking about what effects their lives, what they want to change, or what they have already achieved through campaigning.
There are 4 strands to HUV these are:
The Steering Group consists of 25 young people, which come from the local influence groups involved with HUV and also representatives from UK Youth Voice, from the 9 regions of England. The Steering Group take's responsibility for setting the agenda for the project, deciding which direction HUV should go in, what they want to achieve by being involved with HUV and how they can go about achieving their goals.
The Steering group meet up at residential’s throughout the year to talk about what youth services affect them and how they can implement change within them.

CAMPAIGN FOR CHANGE TOOLKIT
The Toolkit is a practical resource for anybody working with young people, and is packed full of resources and activity ideas all centred around the media and campaigning. The toolkit was developed with young people from the HUV Steering Group.

The Hearing Unheard Voices Website and HUV social were developed with the young people from the HUV Steering Group and UK Youth Voice. Their ideas and comments are clearly reflected in the design and content which you can see throughout the site.
The website will showcase the whole of HUV – All the campaigns youth workers and young people are working on in their local areas, and at a national level, showcasing examples of Best Practice, along with how campaigns have helped influence decision makers, journalists or even MP's.
HUV Social
The young people identified the need to be able to communicate to each other in areas they are already familiar with online, such as Facebook. HUV Social is the response to this need, and hopes to establish itself as the social network for young campaigners. It is the area of the website totally dedicated to young people where they can invite friends to have a look at the hard work they have put into on their campaign, and get everyone to join in, and support the campaigns!
E-REPORTERS
Every young person who gets involved with HUV can become an e-reporter – simply by joining HUV Social and uploading their campaign idea or registering their support for a friend’s current campaign they are having their voice heard and making it matter!
E-reporting can be as simple as sending in an article about your campaign or a groups campaign or just a series of photos - We want to know everything that goes on through videos, podcasts, photos, news articles etc… and the HUV website will be the place to show this all off!
